Ahead of All In London, former AEW World Champion MJF has discussed “coming back a little early” for his AEW return.
At AEW Double Or Nothing, former AEW World Champion MJF made his return to the company for the first time since December 2023.
This marked his first appearance since losing the AEW World Title to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view. On that night, Maxwell Jacob Friedman competed with a torn labrum and a hip injury.
Since then, Friedman has picked up wins over RUSH and Hechicero. He also defeated Will Ospreay to win the AEW International Championship in a near-60 minute match.
Speaking with Cultaholic Wrestling’s Jack King, MJF revealed that he wasn’t 100 percent upon his return to the promotion. He said:
“I’ve come back from injury and I will tell you candidly, so here’s a little clickbait for you. I’m still not 100 percent.”
I had to come back because I don’t know if you noticed this, but the show without me blew a bag of d*cks.”
“So I came back a little bit earlier than I probably physically should have. The funny thing is I was still able to beat RUSH, Templario, soon it’ll be Michael Oku, Kyle Fletcher, and Will Ospreay, and I’m gonna do it again on August 25th. And that’s me at 80 percent.”
Friedman recently changed the AEW International Championship into the American Championship and successfully defended the title against Michael Oku on the August 11 Rev Pro Summer Sizzle event.
MJF will defend the American Championship against Will Ospreay on Sunday, August 25 at AEW All In London.
