Ahead of CMLL’s 91st Anniversary Show, former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho says he wants a mask vs. hair match.
On the June 28 CMLL Arena Mexico event, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance to attack Mistico under a mask. This angle set up Jericho vs. Mistico at the company’s 91st Anniversary show on September 13.
On the September 4 edition of CMLL Informa, Chris Jericho discussed his first match under the CMLL banner since 1995. He said:
“Yeah, I remember. I think I wrestled Atlantis at the first Grand Prix, if I remember correctly.”
“Once again, I have such a great story and such a great history in Mexico that it makes perfect sense to come back to wrestle as much as I can.”
On wanting a mask vs. hair match in CMLL, Jericho said:
“I would love to be in the Grand Prix and I would love to do a mask versus hair match. All of the things that I’ve done in Mexico in the past, I would love to return to again.”
“It’s amazing to me that it took 30 years to return to Arena México. But I don’t think that this match versus Místico is the only time that I’ll return.”
“I would like to come back many times. I love wrestling in Mexico, I love the fans and there’s so many great luchadores in CMLL. Like I said, there’s no reason why I can’t come back many, many times.”
AEW star Claudio Castagnoli won the 2024 CMLL International Grand Prix. Meanwhile, fellow Willow Nightingale is set to defend the CMLL World Women’s Title against Zeuxis on the same September 13 CMLL 91st Anniversary that Jericho will face Mistico.
