Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland could be returning sooner than originally expected according to a new report.

Strickland last appeared at AEW All Out on September 7 in a Lights Out Steel Cage match against Adam Page.
The match was a violent affair, with WWE’s Booker T commenting on claims that the match went “too far”.
With Strickland absent from AEW screens since the match, it was recently reported that he could return for WrestleDream in October.
Strickland is seen in an image advertising the event which takes place on October 12, 2024, in his home town of Tacoma, Washington.

Dave Meltzer has now provided insight into Strickland’s return in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
Swerve Strickland we were told will be back sooner than originally expected.
It would make sense for him to be on the 10/12 PPV in Tacoma, since he’s from there, although we don’t have that confirmed.
I don’t know where they go with Strickland vs. Page after the Lights Out cage match, but the feud definitely should continue.”

The feud between the pair saw Page burn down Strickland’s childhood home, as can be seen below this news story.
Strickland had purchased the property with ‘many on the AEW roster’ unaware that it was specifically to burn it down for the story.
Strickland recently signed a new multi-year deal with AEW that will see him in the company “until at least 2028.”

He is also expected to remain at the “top of the card” under his new deal that is “considered on the biggest” in AEW history.
Elsewhere in AEW, it was recently reported that Miro has requested his release from the company.
