On October 2, AEW and Warner Bros Discovery announced the completion of their new multi-year media rights deal.
Details of the deal were revealed ahead of the AEW Dynamite Five-Year Anniversary show with the news that programming would also be streamed live on Max.
As noted in the report, financial terms for the deal were not officially disclosed, sources told Variety that the deal was valued at “upwards of $150 million per year” after all elements are considered.
Dave Meltzer has revealed more details fo the financial terms of the deal in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
Sources close to the negotiations said this was a three-year deal at which will total $555 million.
This is broken down as $180 million in 2025, $185 million in 2026 and $190 million in 2027.
WBD has an option year built in for all of 2028 at a significantly higher number.
Meltzer has also recently revealed the future of Ring of Honor on the WBD-owned TruTV.
With reports that AEW may be introducing a new television show, Meltzer has noted that “Shockwave was always going to be shopped separately” from the WBD deal.
Pay-per-views also factor into the deal with plans for them to be made available on Max in 2025 at a discounted price per event.
It was also reported that Max will be advertised as the home for AEW PPVs through marketing and promotion.
