Claudio Castagnoli has recalled feeling like he was just going through the motions at one point during his AEW run.

The Blackpool Combat Club recently received a big shake-up, with Jon Moxley attacking Bryan Danielson after his AEW World Championship match at All Out.
Moxley has had a much more intense character since returning to TV, with Moxley taking some time away from the ring following Forbidden Door in June.
Speaking with The TakeDown on Sports Illustrated, Claudio Castagnoli noted that he feels that Moxley needed that time off to regain his purpose.

Noting that he felt they were going through the motions ahead of Moxley’s hiatus, Castagnoli said:
“I feel he needed that time off to kind of reconnect with himself and find his purpose, so to speak, or regain his purpose.
“I can’t speak for Jon, but I felt like the last couple months before he came back, you know we always have the ‘Be Real’ on our shirts, I didn’t really feel real. It felt like, okay, we’re just kind of going through the motions.”

Castagnoli also addressed his current role in AEW, which you can read more about right here.
