Claudio Castagnoli has commented on his current role in AEW, explaining how his previous focus held him back as a performer.
Many fans were calling for WWE to give Castagnoli a world title push back when he was with the company.
While Castagnoli has held the ROH World Championship since arriving in AEW, he has yet to win the AEW World Championship.
Speaking with The TakeDown on Sports Illustrated, Claudio Castagnoli noted that becoming world champion isn’t his main concern any more.
Noting that he’s more interested in making an impact, he said:
“Everybody should aspire to be the World Heavyweight Champion. I think I may have realized as I’m getting older, that that single-minded focus can actually be a big detriment to me.
“Not everybody is the main character. Not everybody can be the hero of the story. So to me, it is how can I make the most impact?”
Castagnoli will team with Pac to face off against Wheeler Yuta and Bryan Danielson on AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday.
This is ahead of Danielson defending his AEW World Title against Jon Moxley at WrestleDream.
