Having made her AEW debut in October 2022, Maria Kanellis has revealed that her contract only has a few weeks left on it.
Kanellis debuted on the October 14 2022 episode of AEW Rampage with Mike Bennett and Matt Taven of The Kingdom.
This partnership would come to an end in 2023 with Kanellis moving to ROH as the manager of Cole Karter and Griff Garrison.
Kanellis has recently provided a medical update on Instagram and revealed that her contract expires on October 31, 2024.
In the post, she revealed that she is “getting closer to surgery” and has an ultrasound booked for this week, saying:
“Hello. It’s been a little bit since I’ve checked in. We’re getting close to my surgery and we’re within 20 days of it at this point
“This week, I have an ultrasound, I have genetic testing and I also am meeting with my surgeon to make a plan and hopefully start discussing what time of day we’ll be doing the surgery and if we’re going through the front or through the back.”
Kanellis would go on to talk about her contract status and saying she “hasn’t really heard anything” about it from AEW, stating:
“So, I’m trying to not focus too much on that and also my contract with AEW is coming up October 31st.
“I’ve reached out to them to find out whether or not they are going to be signing me but, I haven’t really heard anything yet. So, of course that is weighing on me as well.
“But, because it’s that time of year where it’s spooky season, I’m trying to focus on that. So I have this stick here (she laughed), and today, I’m gonna work on some outdoor Halloween decorations because the rest of it, I can’t control right now.
“I can’t control AEW, I can’t control the surgery. But what I can do is make some wonderful memories for my kids. So today, that is going to be my focus is making my kids happy. Peace friends.”
Kanellis has previously discussed how ROH has found its niche as the “place where young talent comes and they grow.”
She would also explain how she sees this “young talent” driven company compared to WWE NXT.
JJA Sport Studio wishes Maria Kanellis well in her upcoming diagnosis and surgery.
