CM Punk has reflected on his WWE in-ring return against Dominik Mysterio at recent live events in MSG and Los Angeles.
CM Punk made his return to WWE after almost a decade away at the end of Survivor Series in Chicago back in November.
While Punk has yet to return to the ring on WWE television, he has competed in two matches on live events against ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio.
Speaking on the WWE preview show, Punk reflected on his WWE in-ring return, calling it ‘fun in a relaxed atmosphere’.
He said:
“It was amazing. We call them live events now, which is how old I am. They were house shows to me, probably always will be. They were my bread and butter. TV is one thing. TV is a whole nervous ball of energy. Everybody is worried about sticking to times on television and you have a lot of bosses. When I’m on house shows, I don’t have a boss; I just have fun.
“It brings me back to starting wrestling in the first place. The reason why you do it, for some reason you’re drawn to do this, and I just got to have fun in a relaxed atmosphere in front of people who were excited to see me and I got to punch Dirty Dom in the face. All in a day’s work.”
Punk officially signed with the Raw brand following his return to the company.
Punk is set to return to Raw on tonight’s (January 8) episode of the show.
Punk announced that he will be a participant in the 2024 Royal Rumble, with he, Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura the only confirmed men in the match so far.
