WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels has admitted that he previously considered reaching out to a notable non-WWE star.
WWE has worked with several promotions under the Triple H regime. Fans were most recently shocked by a surprise entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match, with current TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace making her WWE debut.
Shawn Michaels addressed Grace’s appearance when speaking with media ahead of WWE Vengeance Day.
Noting that Grace had been on his radar for a while before her WWE appearance, Michaels said:
“I’ve always sort of seen her from afar, and I’ve always wondered, you know, I don’t know, ‘What if she’d be interested, coming down next year, coming to the WWE?’ But my fault for never reaching out because I assume if you’re with another company, you know, that’s not allowed.
“I think some things that probably we were never even allowed to consider or look at in the past is at least something that we can begin to look at and think about in the future.
“I, for one, very excited about that again, but those are, once again, those are things on a corporate level that I don’t get to say so.”
Grace won the TNA Knockouts Title from Naomi (Trinity) at the January 13 Hard To Kill pay-per-view.
Naomi made here long-rumored WWE return during the Rumble, and was reunited with Grace following their recent TNA rivalry.
