The real reason for Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson’s recent WWE release on Friday, May 3 has been revealed.
Steveson was one of several WWE NXT talents released from the company, with his name being among the most notable of those released.
Steveson had competed in just one televised match since he signed with the company in 2021, that being a double countout against Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash last year.
Many online had speculated that Steveson’s previous issues with the law had factored into his WWE release, but that’s seemingly not the case.
Per Fightful Select, Steveson’s release didn’t surprise many people in NXT that spoke to Fightful after the releases took place.
One talent pointed to the difference in development from Steveson’s brother Damon Kemp and him.
Within NXT, those that spoke to Fightful were of the belief that a lack of progression was what led to his release, rather than his previous law troubles.
