Drew McIntyre has revealed the reason why he dislikes CM Punk and it goes further back than the former AEW star’s return to WWE.

The pair have clashed verbally (and physically) a number of times since Punk return at the 2023 WWE Survivor Series, with that moment being kept a secret until it happened.
Recently, McIntyre described modern-day Punk as a ‘corporate shill’ compared to the “horrible person” that the star was during his earlier WWE run.

McIntyre has shed some light on why he thinks of Punk in the way that he does during an interview with The Indian Express, saying:
“I can’t stand him, we have history that people just do not know about yet. Maybe I’ll go into detail down the line but he hurt me when I was younger personally and professionally.
“He’s a genuinely terrible person. If you just take five minutes to do the research online, you’ll see that he has always been a terrible person.”

At WrestleMania 40, Punk was pivotal in costing McIntyre the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with Damian Priest cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase moments after Sami Zayn had been defeated and a new champion crowned.
McIntyre has warned Punk against interfering in his match against Damian Priest at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland on June 15.
In the Indian Express interview, McIntyre expressed his opinion of the Money in the Bank briefcase saying he “can’t stand” it as he lost his “last two world titles” to cash-ins.
Prior to WrestleMania 40, McIntyre defended the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match in 2021 only to lose the belt to The Miz after a Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in.
