WWE Women’s Champion Bayley will put the title up against Meiko Satomura on Saturday, July 27 in Tokyo, Japan.
The match was officially revealed by WWE on social media, sharing footage of Satomura issuing the challenge at Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
Tomorrow’s show, which also takes place at Ryōgoku Kokugikan, brings to an end WWE’s three-day tour of Japan.
Footage showing Satomura challenging Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship can be seen below this news story.
Satomura returned to the WWE ring for the first time in over a year during the tour, teaming with Bayley, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill to defeat Tiffany Stratton & Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane).
Following the match, it was reported that Satomura plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2025, with sources noting that it could happen as early as Spring.
It would further be noted that she plans to still be involved in wrestling after she retires, according to ‘close associates’.
Satomura signed with WWE in October 2020 having competed in the 2018 Mae Young Classic.
She would go on to work in NXT UK and become the final NXT UK Women’s Champion before making appearances on NXT.
Following her loss to NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at NXT Roadblock in March 2023, Satomura didn’t compete in the ring until the Japan tour although remained signed with WWE.
