CM Punk has addressed the possibility of AJ Lee (AJ Mendez) returning to WWE following his own return last year.
While fans have been calling for AJ Lee to return to the ring since her in-ring retirement in 2015, rumors have been swirling about Lee’s potential WWE comeback more recently, with her husband CM Punk back with the company.
Speaking with Ringside Collectibles, Punk noted that he believes that AJ knows that she has options.
Noting that he wouldn’t want to get in the middle of discussions, Punk said:
“I’m the wrong guy to ask those questions about. My stance—I know there’s a lot out there of that—but I certainly am not pushing her to do anything. I think she knows that there’s options. I think she sees how happy I am and how things are different.
“But if the right situation presented itself, it would have to be a discussion between her and certain people. I don’t necessarily want to be in the middle of that; just because it could get kind of weird. Selfishly, yes, I would love to make out with my wife on television again.”
AJ Lee hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Naomi and Paige (Saraya) to defeat Natalya and the Bella Twins on the March 30, 2015 edition of Raw, ahead of the announcement of her retirement that April.
She returned to the wrestling world in late-2021 to serve as an executive producer for Women Of Wrestling (WOW). She finished up with the promotion at the end of that season, as announced in August 2023.
