WWE is hopeful that an injured star may be able to return to a storyline ahead of the upcoming Survivor Series premium live event.
It was announced on this week’s August 12 episode of WWE Raw that Dakota Kai had suffered a torn meniscus and needs surgery, which will see her out of action for 8 to 10 weeks.
Now in a report from PWInsider Elite, the backstage reaction to the injury as well as when it reportedly occurred have been revealed.
Dakota Kai is “universally liked and respected” backstage and there was “a lot of sympathy” for her after she sustained the injury, per the report.
The belief is that she picked up the injury over WWE’s recent tour of Japan, which took place on July 25, 26 and 27, with Kai wrestling on all three of those nights.
There is hope she will “be back in the mix” by the time storylines start coming together for Survivor Series, which is set for November 30 this year.
Dakota Kai was effectively written off of television via an attack by the newly named group the Pure Fusion Collective consisting of Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville.
The remaining members of Damage CTRL – Kairi Sane and IYO SKY – have remained paired together in chasing revenge after the attack.
The fourth member of Damage CTRL, Asuka, remains out of action also due to injury and subsequent surgery from a few months ago.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on Kai’s status, and we wish her all the best for her recovery.
