Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline seemingly picked up an injury at WWE SummerSlam on August 3, 2024, that saw him miss the following week’s Raw.

In comments made during the post-show media event, Triple H noted that Fatu was ‘a little banged up‘ during the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa, highlights of which can be seen below.
Fatu was seen favoring his foot shortly thereafter and later sporting a walking boot in public following his splash on Rhodes through the commentary table.
Following this, it was reported that Fatu was expected to return before the end of August 2024.
It isn’t clear if Fatu is legitimately injured however, with WWE’s plans reportedly always seeing The Samoan Werewolf sell his foot.
Dave Meltzer has provided clarity on what Fatu’s absence means for the WWE Tag Team Championship that he currently holds with Tama Tonga.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer clarified the way that the titles will be defended in Fatu’s absence, stating:
Regarding the tag team titles, the current word from WWE is that the titles can be defended by any two people from the Bloodline that Solo Sikoa selects.

Meltzer had previously stated this on Wrestling Observer Radio, noting that it wasn’t explained on television but was ‘the WWE explanation.’
Meltzer would go on to discuss WWE’s current stance on Fatu, revisiting his comment that they purposely want him kept away from Roman Reigns for the time being, stating:
Things have remained quiet on Jacob Fatu. They don’t want him mixed in with Reigns at this point or selling big for him, and everyone has to sell big for Reigns right now. So he’s off due to being injured, but they aren’t making a big deal of his injury either as he’s supposed to be a monster. So they are low keying their angle.
They’ve kept totally quiet as to whether he’s actually hurt or what the situation is, but most if not all of this is a work and his not being around and intermixing with Reigns was all planned.

Following claims that there was a growing belief among WWE talent that Fatu was legitimately injured, it was subsequently reported that a PW Insider source ‘blew off‘ the idea.
JJA Sport Studio will provides updates on Fatu’s status as they emerge.
