On tonight’s AEW Full Gear 2023, AEW has announced a new championship, the AEW Continental Championship with an important detail added.
It was announced on tonight’s show that the field of 12 participants in the AEW Continental Classic had expanded.
Announced for the tournament, Mark Briscoe and Eddie Kingston.
However along with the announcement of Kingston’s inclusion in the tournament (that already includes Bryan Danielson and Andrade el Idolo), an additional pair of titles added to the prize.
With Eddie Kingston noting that he would be putting his ROH World Championship and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship on the line every time he was in a match, the winner would become a triple crown champ along with the ‘AEW Continental Championship’.
Tony Khan took to Twitter during AEW Full Gear 2023 to clarify, writing:
