Mike Santana has provided an update on his status in AEW having been used infrequently since his return, suggesting he’s waiting on creative.

Santana made his on-screen return in August 2023 leading to his inclusion, alongside Ortiz, in the Stadium Stampede match at AEW All In.
Having been out of action for over a year due to a torn ACL, Ortiz posted a message of thanks after his return on the August 23 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Since August, however, Santana has been used infrequently appearing on the Grand Slam 2023 episode of AEW Rampage in September and defeating Bronson, with his most recent match being October 25, again on Rampage, beating Ortiz.
The last match should come as no surprise given Santana’s previous revelation that Proud-n-Powerful were no longer on the same page.

With two appearances in just under four months, Santana posted a message about his future on Twitter, complete with a 2024 diary, writing:

The tweet would confirm that he’s available for worldwide bookings.
This caused some concern for one fan in particular who responded by asking:

Santana would clarify his current contract status in a reply, writing:

Konnan has previously revealed that Santana was “pissed off” with AEW creative.
Santana and Ortiz made their AEW debuts at the August 2019 All Out and were members of Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle.
That group was disbanded in March 2022 with Ortiz going on to lose a hair vs hair match against Jericho in June 2022’s Road Rager.

June 2022 would see Santana and Ortiz join Eddie Kingston and Blackpool Combat Club in a Blood and Guts match, taking on The Jericho Appreciation Society.
It was in that match that Santana would suffer his torn ACL.
