An AEW star wants to train in Japan and Mexico.
The AEW roster consist of many stars who have been influenced by training in Japan and Mexico.
From stars of Japanese wrestling like Kenny Omega and Katsuyori Shibata to Mexican talent such as Komander and Lucha Bros, All Elite Wrestling’s style has been shaped by the training of the two countries.
Despite signing with AEW since 2019, Ortiz has unfortunately never won gold in the company and has seen his time on TV becoming more off and on in the past year.
Speaking with Isiah Kassidy, Ortiz was asked about his goals for 2024. He answered:
“Goals going forward, I want to do an excursion in Japan and Mexico. Just to go train.”
“I just want to go for a month two and just go train with different people. I’ve always prided myself on being able to wrestle every style.”
“I kind of want to go back to basics this year because I feel like I’m still trying to find my new voice in professional wrestling.”
“I want to learn Spanish fluently. I want to learn how to at least have basic conversations in Japanese,”
Ortiz last wrestled in a tag team loss alongside AEW Continental Crown Champion Eddie Kingston to the Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli on the January 27 episode of AEW Collision.
