A WWE star has teased the possibility of Ronda Rousey one day returning to the company for a specific match in the future.
SummerSlam 2023 saw the final time we saw former WWE and UFC Champion Ronda Rousey compete inside a WWE ring – facing off in an MMA Rules match against former tag team partner Shayna Baszler.
Following the match Rousey officially departed the company but has not retired from in-ring competition, proceeding to make sporadic appearances alongside real-life friend and AEW star Marina Shafir.
This has included appearances for Wrestling REVOLVER, Lucha VaVoom and even ROH.
Speaking to WrestlingINC, Rousey’s final WWE opponent Baszler discussed what has motivated Rousey’s various appearances and what could be in her future.
Baszler said:
“She’s loyal to her friends. Like, undyingly.”
“She doesn’t know if she’s going off, she doesn’t know if she’s coming back or not. She’s taking some time either way and wanted to make sure if she doesn’t come back to this, that she has a match with Marina.
“And so they’ve been friends longer than me and her have been friends, and it didn’t matter the letters behind the event, she just wanted to have a match with her friend and that’s what she did.”
Although Baszler remains unsure on what Rousey’s future looks like, one thing she couldn’t rule out is a future return to WWE; perhaps even for a rematch from the MMA Rules match at SummerSlam.
Baszler continued:
“If I know Ronda, she’ll want to get her one up on me, so we’ll see.”
As for Baszler, both she and Zoey Stark continued their winning ways as a tandem on this week’s Raw (January 29) against Chelsea Green & Piper Niven; seemingly staking a claim at a potential Women’s Tag Title opportunity with The Kabuki Warriors in the future.
