A pair of AEW stars have officially joined a new faction at a recent international event, despite already belonging to a different stable.

At the NJPW World Tag League event on November 29, there was a trios match involving AEW’s Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) and Yuto Nakashima vs HOUSE OF TORTURE’s EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi and SHO.
The match was won by HOUSE OF TORTURE, with SHO defeating Nakashima, however what happened during the post-match was what stole the headlines.

Despite defeating Gates of Agony, a handshake was extended by the winning team with HOUSE OF TORTURE shirts being offered to both men.
These were duly accepted, with Liona and Kaun then posing in celebration alongside their new stable-mates.

Kaun would comment on the new allegiance in an interview with NJPW backstage saying:
“You think you know whose house it is – but you’ve gotta go through the gates first”
“We never said whose house it was. It was the HOUSE OF TORTURE. You want to get in the house, you’ve got to go through the gates first.”

You can watch a clip of this new allegiance forming down below.
Naturally this will lead to questions surrounding Liona and Kaun’s status within the Mogul Embassy faction alongside Brian Cage, Prince Nana and its leader Swerve Strickland.
Gates of Agony’s last match on AEW TV came on the November 4 edition of AEW Collision.
They’re currently the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Brian Cage in their second reign as a trio.
