AEW star Dustin Rhodes has revealed winning the TNT Title as one of his goals before the end of his pro wrestling career.
On the January 17 edition of AEW Dynamite, Christian Cage defeated Dustin Rhodes to retain the TNT Championship.
Rhodes has been featured more often lately with matches against the likes of Swerve Strickland and Willie Mack in recent weeks.
Since coming to All Elite Wrestling in 2019, the 54 year old star has yet to win championship gold so far.
In a new interview with Denise Salcedo, Dustin Rhodes was asked about possibly winning championship gold before the end of his career. He replied:
“If you look at my career, 35 years is such a long time. I have wrestled everybody. At this point, I just want to have fun.”
“I would like to win the TNT Title, but you have to realize I’m almost 55 years old. Still, I want it, maybe a weeks worth run with it. It just depends on what the boss wants to do.”
“I love what I’m doing and at this point, it’s about having fun and passing on my knowledge and the kids taking something that I teach them and then pulling it off and getting a reaction, that’s the payoff. That’s what the second part of my legacy is about.”
It remains to be seen if Dustin Rhodes will get another opportunity to win the TNT Title at the time of this writing.
