WWE has shared an update on the US Championship #1 contender’s tournament, following uncertainty surrounding one of the competitors.
Following the announcement that Owens would be competing in the tournament to determine Logan Paul’s next US Title challenger, WWE announced that Owens had suffered hand fractures after his match against Grayson Waller on the December 1 edition of SmackDown.
With Owens’ future in the tournament unclear following this injury announcement – which does seem to be a storyline and not a legitimate injury – it was announced on this week’s SmackDown episode that Kevin Owens is slated to wrestle Austin Theory in tournament action on the December 15 show.
WWE has now shared a digital exclusive segment featuring Kevin Owens and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
In the video, which you can watch below, Aldis told Owens that he can’t let him compete with a broken hand.
After Grayson Waller and Austin Theory entered to mock Owens, Kevin Owens promised that he’d compete as scheduled, telling Aldis that he’ll compete next week.
Another top star appeared to suffer an injury, though this one seems to be legitimate, during their match on the December 8 show, which you can read more about right here.
